The Camera Club is the opposite of one-and-done. It’s not a course with a start and an end. It’s a membership; a place you belong for as long as it’s useful to you, where the photography keeps going month after month, and where you’re never doing it on your own.
What’s inside
A new project every month
A fresh photography project to sink into, all year round. Immediate access to the projects archive.
Regular guest speakers
Online talks from photographers worth hearing from, throughout the year.
Special-interest groups
Smaller corners for the genres you love, so you can go deep with people who love them too.
An engaged community
A friendly, active group Emma is part of too; encouraging, never competitive, genuinely welcoming.
Meetups, online and in person
Chances to get together; behind a screen and sometimes in the real world.
Somewhere to keep growing
After a course ends, this is where the momentum continues; for as long as you want it to.
THE RHYTHM
Something to come back to, every month
There’s no syllabus to keep up with and nothing to fall behind on. Each month brings a new project and the people to share it with; you dip in as much or as little as life allows, and it’s still there when you come back.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF CAMERA CLUB
Leave nerves at the door
If the words “camera club” make you wince a little, I understand. In-person clubs can be competitive and judgmental; scored competitions, strong opinions and that quiet dread of putting your work up to be picked apart. Plenty of lovely photographers have been put off for good by exactly that.
This is nothing like that. There are no competitions and no scores. We learn together, supportively; cheering each other on rather than ranking each other. No one’s work is too simple to share, and no question is too basic to ask. And it is, genuinely, fun.
Is it for you?
It’s for you if…
you want to belong to something ongoing
you enjoy a project and some company
you’ve finished a course and don’t want the momentum to fade
you like the idea of a friendly group, not a competitive one
It’s probably not for you if…
you’re after one specific skill; a one-day course will serve you better
you’d prefer to learn entirely at your own pace, alone
you want a fixed start and finish rather than something ongoing
