There comes a point when the basics no longer trip you up, and something more interesting comes into reach: guiding the viewer’s eye exactly where you want it, and giving your photos a look that’s recognisably yours.
This 3-hour evening workshop is for confident Lightroom Classic users who want to explore the advanced features; masking above all, along with the local adjustments and finishing touches that turn a good edit into your edit. As before, I’ll demonstrate on screen through the first half, then open up for your questions after a short break, so you can dig into the tools that matter most to your own work.
By the end you’ll be reaching for masks and local adjustments with intent, not trepidation.
This is for you if you’re a confident Lightroom Classic user who wants to go well beyond the basics.
How the workshop runs
6–7:30pm · Watch it done
I demonstrate on screen; masking above all, plus the local adjustments and finishing touches that turn a good edit into your edit.
7:45–9pm · Your questions
Then it opens up; Q&A and clarifications. You can bring your own photos and sticking points and we’ll work through them together.
Recorded
Every session is recorded, and the recording is yours to keep so you can watch it back whenever you like and work through the edits at your own pace.
All the sessions run online on Zoom.
You’ll need a stable internet connection.
By the end of the workshop you’ll be able to say:
✓ I can use masks to edit exactly the part of a photo I mean to.
✓ I can guide the viewer’s eye where I want it.
✓ I understand the advanced features I’d been avoiding.
✓ I’m making edits that look like mine.

Have you got Lightroom Classic?
Confusingly, there are two different apps called Lightroom, and this workshop is for Lightroom Classic: the fuller desktop version most keen photographers use.
It’s quick to check which one you’ve got. Open the Lightroom and look along the top. If you see a row of named modules – Library, Develop, Map, Print – you’re in Lightroom Classic, and you’re in exactly the right place. If instead you see a simpler, cloud-based layout with no modules – just your photos and an Edit panel – that’s the newer app (Lightroom, sometimes called Lightroom CC), which works quite differently. This course is NOT for you if you have the cloud-based Lightroom.
